THE LISBON CITY HALL
REPRESENTED IN 'NAFSA 2013', U.S.A.

Lisbon City Council was invited by Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD) and for the second time, to be represented the 65th annual conference of education, "NAFSA 2013" held in St. Louis, Missouri, 27-31 May.

The Portuguese delegation was composed of representatives of the Luso-American Foundation, Fulbright Foundation, U.S. Embassy, AICEP Crup, several national universities and the City Council of Lisbon. These institutions were present as partners of the project "Study in Portugal" whose goal is to promote Portuguese higher education in the U.S. This event was attended by about a hundred countries and more than eight thousand participants.

The presence of the city hall in NAFSA has the main goal to promote Lisbon as a city of knowledge and innovation and as a destination of excellence for study, work and invest.

Several countries including Canada, the U.S., Finland, Japan, Brazil and Chile showed interest in establishing relations with Portugal and particularly with Lisbon as a student’s special destination.

The participation of the city hall in NAFSA was a great opportunity for the international promotion of Lisbon as a city of knowledge and innovation. Lisbon has excellent universities, institutes and research centers network and a huge innovative and entrepreneurial potential.
